First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Jan. 26 decreased to 2,904 from the previous week’s total of 3,850.
For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 3,360 initial claims, the Louisiana Workforce Commission reported.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 3,623 from the previous week’s total of 3,523.
Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending Jan. 26 decreased to 31,727, compared to 32,605 the previous week.
The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 32,199 from the previous week’s average of 32,030.
