La. mineral leases go for $1.1 million

The State Mineral and Energy Board collected $1.1 million in bonuses in its January lease sale, bringing the fiscal year total to $12 million.

The board said in a news release that it awarded 10 leases covering 1,691 acres, out of 24 nominated tracts covering more than 35,633 acres.

The board sold leases in Calcasieu, Lafourche, Plaquemines, Sabine and Terrebonne parishes.
