Brian and Clement LaFleur are planning LaFleur Oaks, a gated, affordable single-family and townhouse development on 21 acres north of Blount Road and east of Gibbens Road.
LaFleur Oaks could ultimately have upward of 100 three- and four-bedroom single-family homes and as many as 77 two-bedroom townhouses, Brian LaFleur said.
Construction could begin in about four months if the development is approved by the city-parish Planning Commission and Metro Council.
The build out would take about 18 months, LaFleur said.
LaFleur said the development, which will be next to Cypress Ridge, will be bordered by a wrought iron and masonry fence and include water features, a pond and a walking trail.
Plans at this point call for a single entrance, though he noted that could change if it is required by the city-parish.
LaFleur said the homes will be lease-to-own over a 10- to 15-year period, and the development will be a mix geared toward qualified buyers making 50 percent, 60 percent and 80 percent of area median income.
Median household income for East Baton Rouge Parish from 2007 to 2011 was $46,838, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
