Wal-Mart to restart Bluebonnet-Burbank plans

Wal-Mart is once again gearing up to build a supercenter at the southeast corner of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Burbank Drive.

The Bentonville, Ark., retailer has filed a permit application with the city-parish to build an $11.1 million, 159,195-square-foot store there, just over four years after it filed for its first permit for the property.

The project was put on hold as the financial crisis crashed the world economy and Wal-Mart scaled back its new store construction nationwide.

Company spokesman Daniel Morales said Thursday the supercenter will employ roughly 300 people after it opens in mid-2014.

College Drive? Do you not know your way around Baton Rouge? I would think Seigen Lane would be closer. Not to mention, this would take some of the traffic away from College Drive because of that Wal-Mart right there. And here is the deal, if you hate Wal-Mart, good for you. You have your opinion. But, if the demand is there, then why not build? More jobs, more money for the state.

For everybody that has a problem with Walmart*, do the rest of us a favor and LEAVE THIS COUNTRY. Go move to a communist country like Cuba or North Korea where you belong. There you will find plenty of stores with empty shelves and no Walmart*. "If you don't love it. Leave it." - Merle Haggard.

Misspelled Walmart*. It is Walmart*, not Wal-Mart.

Wow, more minumum wage, part time, benefit-free jobs for all the state employees Jindal has laid off of their real jobs! Another Walmart. How much of a tax break is this one going to get? Why can't people just go to College Drive?
