O’Reilly opens O’Neal parts store
O’Reilly Automotive Inc. has opened an auto parts store at 2823 O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge.
O’Reilly stocks auto parts, tools, supplies, equipment and accessories and offers overnight service from 10 distribution centers on parts not in stock.
Founded in 1957 by the O’Reilly family, the company operates over 3,900 stores in 39 states.
LSU AgCenter sets rice-grower clinics
The LSU AgCenter will conduct six clinics around Louisiana in January for rice farmers to provide the growers with information for the 2013 crop.
Topics include variety selection, insect and weed control, disease management and fertilizer. Sessions will be held in Crowley, Welsh, Ville Platte, Bunkie, Kaplan and Rayville.
CROWLEY: Jan. 3; 8 a.m.; Acadia Parish Extension Office, 157 Cherokee Drive. Additional topics include growing soybeans and a rice economic outlook.
WELSH: Jan. 8, 8 a.m.; Welsh Community Center, 201 S. Elm St.

Hammond complex receives grant
HAMMOND — The Banyan Foundation has received a $500,000 grant to acquire and rehabilitate Tangi Village, a 96-unit apartment complex that houses low-income residents in Hammond.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and First NBC Bank announced the Affordable Housing Program grant.
The apartments, built in 1982, had fallen into disrepair over the years, the banks said in a news release.
Rob Coats, president of The Banyan Foundation, said less than 50 percent of the units are inhabitable and renovations are expected to begin in March.
After the repairs and renovation, Tangi Village will include a clubhouse building with a community room, business center and office as well as a picnic area and a playground. In addition, 20 of the units will be equipped to house special-needs residents. The Banyan Foundation is a nonprofit organization that owns and develops affordable housing in the southeastern United States, along with Integrity Development Partners Housing and Stratford Capital Group.
Lourdes After Hours opens medical clinic
BREAUX BRIDGE — Lourdes After Hours has opened at 1821 Rees St. in Breaux Bridge.
Lourdes After Hours provides urgent care medical treatment without appointments. Services include on-site X-ray and lab capabilities and treatment for non-life threatening ailments, including minor cuts, sprains and flu.
Hours are 1-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

SBA seeking award program nominees
The U.S. Small Business Administration is seeking nominations for two awards honoring small businesses for the economic role they play in federally funded research and development through SBA’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.
The Hall of Fame award recognizes companies that have an extended period of extraordinary success in research, innovation and product commercialization. The Tibbetts Award has two categories, one for companies that have participated in the SBIR/STTR programs, and another for individuals who advocate on behalf of the programs.
Nominations will close at 4 p.m. Jan. 31 and can be submitted to http://tibbetts2013.challenge.gov/ for the Tibbetts awards to companies and individuals and http://sbirhof2013.challenge.gov/ for the Hall of Fame Award.
Nominations sought for employer awards
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency, is seeking nominations through Jan. 21 for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The Freedom Award recognizes civilian employers for extraordinary support of Guard and Reserve members.
Family members can submit nominations on a guardsman or reservist’s behalf. Employers of every size and industry are eligible. Nominations should be submitted at http://www.freedomaward.mil.
Stennis lab holding tech workshop
STENNIS SPACE CENTER — A Lunch & Learn workshop at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 10 will feature patented technologies available for licensing from the Naval Research Laboratory-Stennis Detachment. The workshop will be in Room 107, Building 1100 NASA Conference Center, at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
Technologies available to emerging and existing business will be discussed, along with steps necessary to use the technologies.
There is no charge for MSET resident companies and members of the MSET fee-based affiliate program. Others pay $10 via PayPal. Those who do not hold a Stennis Space Center security badge should register no later than noon Jan. 7.
