Phillip May appointed new chief of Louisiana Entergy companies

The head of the Louisiana subsidiaries of Entergy Corp. introduced his successor to the Louisiana Public Service Commission on Thursday.

Phillip R. May, 50, takes over in February as chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Entergy Louisiana, LLC, and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. The two companies provide electricity for about 1 million customers in Louisiana.

Bill Mohl, the current head of Entergy’s Louisiana companies, is becoming president of Entergy Wholesale Commodities, a promotion that will send him to New York. He said the last PSC meeting he will attend is the Dec. 12 hearing.

May, 50, is vice president of regulatory services, which deals with the regulators, such as the PSC, in all five states Entergy operates.

A native of the Hammond area, May has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.
