Canadian company buying Omni Energy

A Canadian energy company will acquire Carencro-based Omni Energy Services Corp. for $445 million under a deal announced Thursday.

Omni, a privately held firm, provides environmental and production services to the oil and gas industry.

The deal broadens Clagary, Alberta-based Gibson Energy Inc.’s footprint in most of the major U.S. liquids-focused basins and provides the scale required to grow the environmental services business in North America, Gibson President and Chief Executive Officer Stewart Hanlon said in a news release.
