Insurers to discuss agent compensation
Louisiana Association of Health Underwriters will host a discussion on agent compensation from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Creek library at 6222 Jones Creek and at the same time Wednesday at the South Regional Library at 6101 Johnston St. in Lafayette.
LAHU membership is not required to attend. All licensed agents are invited.

Entrepreneurship week scheduled
The Baton Rouge Area Chamber and The Baton Rouge Business Report have announced that Nov. 11–17 will be Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week.
Held in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week, it will feature a variety of events that may include pitch competitions, educational lunches, industry trends, networking, new product demonstrations and opportunities for angel investors to see new businesses.
The keystone speaker will be Josh Linkner, the author of Disciplined Dreaming: A Proven System to Drive Breakthrough Creativity, a top 10 business book of 2011.

Chamber hosts cloud technology seminar
BRAC’s Small Business Council will have a seminar on the popular, but sometimes misunderstood, cloud technology.
This seminar will focus on what the cloud is, how you may already be using it without knowing, how you should you use it and potential future uses. Applications that will be discussed are email, data backup, critical applications and virtual desktops.
The seminar will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at Louisiana Technology Park. Cost is $15 for BRAC members and $20 for non-members. Lunch will be provided. Contact Nancy Little at (225) 381-7135 or nancy@brac.org.
Board chooses local firm for LSU project
The Louisiana Architects Selection Board has chosen the joint venture team of Grace & Hebert Architects and 360 Architecture of Kansas City to design a major expansion and renovation of Louisiana State University’s Student Recreation Center.
The project will provide an additional 160,000 square feet of space and a partial renovation of the existing 80,000-square-foot center. The design will focus on expanding indoor-outdoor activities and improving connectivity to University Lake. Amenities include workout terraces, a new outdoor leisure pool and improved facilities at the Outdoor Adventure Complex. It also will include a renovation of existing locker rooms, strength and conditioning areas and common rooms, with expanded workout rooms, a new indoor running track with grade changes and three additional multi-athletic court gymnasiums. Tennis courts and sand volleyball courts will be added on site, and new softball and soccer fields will be built at a site adjacent to the Mississippi River.
Accion creates education program
Accion Texas Inc., operating as Accion in Louisiana within the Delta region, will create an entrepreneur education program in several Louisiana parishes to increase job creation and sales of small businesses in our state.
Accion will pursue professional services from organizations and individuals to design a curriculum, develop a plan of outreach and attendance and establish a way to measure results of a partnership with Accion leadership.
The program will serve small businesses in Ascension, Assumption, Calcasieu, Cameron, East Baton Rouge, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. Landry, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Vermilion parishes.
