BAKER — A face-off between two groups of people resulted in gunfire that led to subsequent beatings and two arrests Thursday morning, a Baker police spokesman said.
Capt. Darryl Rainwater said police were looking for two more people Thursday night.
Rainwater said the incident began about 7:50 a.m. when an SUV approached a man and a 16-year-old girl who were walking near the intersection of Harding and Sinbad streets. The man who was walking pulled a gun and fired three shots at the vehicle, which left the area.
The shooter began running and left the girl alone on the street. The SUV went around the block, however, and two male occupants of the vehicle got out and began beating the girl, Rainwater said.
Police booked Arthur Alexander, 28, and Miesha Bartholomew, 22, both of 1021 Sinbad St., with one count each of aggravated battery and simple battery, Rainwater said.
A woman in the car also got out and sprayed the girl with pepper spray, Rainwater said.
Police were looking for the man who fired the shots and the other occupant of the SUV on Thursday night.
No one was hit by the gunshots, Rainwater said.
