Three arrested in Zachary park robbery

Police arrested three people Monday afternoon who are accused of robbing a man and his wife at gunpoint in a BREC park where they met the suspects to buy a cellphone.

Detective Sgt. Johnny Dillon said the couple responded to a Craigslist notice of an iPhone for sale and one of the suspects directed them to several meeting places in Zachary until they finally reached Rollins Road Park about 5 p.m. Sunday.

At the park, the trio robbed the out-of-town couple of about $180, Dillon said.

As they left the park, the woman took pictures of the robbers with her cellphone.

Although the pictures were not clear, detectives showed them to people who live in the area until they learned the suspects’ identities, Dillon said.

One of the suspects arrested is a 15-year-old boy.

Police booked Kristofer Marshall, 18, 3292 Redbud St., and Shedrick Williams, 18, 4638 Ave. G, both of Zachary, at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, using a firearm in a crime committed in a firearm-free zone, carrying a gun in firearm-free zone and possession of drugs in a drug-free zone.
