ZACHARY — Police officers assisting state child welfare case workers in an investigation discovered an illegal methamphetamine lab in a Plank Road mobile home, Police Chief David McDavid said Tuesday.
After officers entered the residence Monday night and found methamphetamines and materials, including lithium batteries, propane and drain cleaner, used in making crystal meth, they arrested three people, McDavid said.
Officers booked Ryan Patrick Harper, 29, and Shari Kay Behrens, 31, both of 21210 Plank Road, at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with possession of methamphetamines, operation of a clandestine lab and possession of drug paraphernalia, McDavid said.
Officers also booked Randy J. Kinsel, 44, also of 21210 Plank Road, with three counts of drug possession of drug paraphernalia and as a fugitive from Baker police and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The state Department of Children and Family Services took custody of the child found on the premises, McDavid said.
