One arrested, guns and drugs seized in Baker

Police arrested a 50-year-old Baker man Friday and confiscated six weapons and a quantity of marijuana packaged for sale, Police Chief Mike Knaps said.

Knaps said Calvin B. Stewman, 4607 Greenwood Lane, said in a later interview that he had been selling marijuana and his prescription hydrocodone pills for several months to supplement his income.

Police obtained a search warrant for the residence after an investigation into reports that Stewman was selling drugs from the residence, Knaps said.

Stewman was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of firearms with drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana in the presence of a juvenile, Knaps said.

When police arrived at the residence shortly before 5 a.m., they immediately noticed a strong odor of raw marijuana in the house, the police chief said.

Marchifavia is right. This guy should be free to sell drugs without being hassled by the law. He should sue the police for enforcing the law like MEM does weekly
