East Feliciana inmate escapes

East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies are looking for a state prison inmate who escaped from his work-release job site Monday morning.

Frankie New, 40, formerly of 10426 Jack Torres Road, Maringouin, left Elam’s Auto Service and Body Shop on La. 10 in Jackson about 8 a.m., sheriff’s Detective Don McKey said.

New was in state custody on a simple burglary conviction and was scheduled for release in March 2014, McKey said.

Another state inmate assigned to the East Feliciana Parish work-release program, Glen R. Carroll III, 21, left his job site near Amite last week, but the U.S. Marshals Service arrested him Friday in Denham Springs.

Two inmate walk aways from work sites in less than 2 weeks. Seems like the East Feliciana Parish jail staff are having problems determining which inmates should be appropriate for outside work site jobs. AT least his one escaped from the same parish job site instead of out of parish like last week. Put their butts washing pots and pans until they can prove otherwise they belong outside.
