BR man dies in Slaughter crash BR man dies in Slaughter crash Advocate staff report| Jan. 02, 2013 Comments SLAUGHTER — A 44-year-old Baton Rouge man died Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on La. 957 north of La. 412 in East Feliciana Parish, a State Police spokesman said. Herman D. Ricard was driving a 2001 Acura TL north on La. 957 around 5:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and ran off the roadway to the right, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release. Ricard over-corrected and crossed back over both lanes of La. 957 before striking a utility pole and a tree, Sandifer said. Ricard, who was wearing a seat belt, died from his injuries, Sandifer said. Excessive speed is considered a factor in the crash, Sandifer said. Troopers also have submitted a toxicology sample from Ricard to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, he said.
