ANGOLA — Louisiana State Penitentiary officers recovered the body of a man Thursday found floating in the Mississippi River, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Spillman said the body was found in Concordia Parish jurisdiction near an area of West Feliciana Parish that is on the river’s west bank.
The captain of the Angola ferryboat reported seeing the body of a man floating facedown in the water about 6 p.m.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office was working Thursday night to establish the man’s identity, Spillman said.
