Fourth suspect arrested in E. Feliciana in ‘cooking’ of meth

East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday arrested a fourth person suspected of “cooking” methamphetamines Sunday in woods near an Ethel mobile home park, a spokesman for Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said.

Detective Kevin Garig said deputies arrested Frank A. Stevens Jr., 35, at his residence, 6048 La. 19, on a warrant obtained in the investigation of Sunday’s incident. Deputies found methamphetamines being made in two bottles in the woods near a creek.

While apprehending Stevens with the help of state probation and parole agents, deputies found remnants of another “shake and bake” meth lab in a trash can, as well as chemicals throughout the residence that are used in making the drug, Garig said.

Stevens was booked at the parish jail with three counts of manufacturing methamphetamines and possession of drugs in the presence of a child younger than 12.

A 4-year-old child was in the residence when deputies arrived, Garig said.
