Advocate staff report Oct. 16, 2013 Comments Members of the St. Amant Fire Volunteer Department will be sporting special duty shirts throughout October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The black T-shirts feature an embroidered pink St. Amant patch and large pink ribbon on the back with the St. Amant Fire Department logo. Chief James E. LeBlanc gave St. Amant volunteer firefighters the option to purchase the shirts at their own expense to wear while responding to calls in the St. Amant Community during the entire month of October. He said 90 percent of department volunteers purchased the shirts. Firefighters and other volunteers started wearing the shirts Oct. 1. Residents can purchase a pink T-shirt as part of a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Baton Rouge Area Louisiana affiliate, LeBlanc said. The shirts, sold for $20, feature the breast cancer awareness ribbon. To purchase a shirt, call LeBlanc at (225) 445-5766; Jenn Hebert at (225) 603-0999 or Derek J. LeBlanc at (225) 313-5775.
