Fundraising program buys supplies, uniforms Fundraising program buys supplies, uniforms Advocate staff report Oct. 02, 2013 Comments Local students can ditch their school uniforms and raise money for a good cause through Volunteer Ascension’s Kids Helping Kids Fall fundraising program. Volunteer Ascension Executive Director Sherry Denig said students can donate to the program, which funds school uniforms and supplies. “It’s a perfect and easy way for our school kids to take an active part in helping their fellow classmates,” Denig said. “We are so appreciative of the schools that have already jumped on board.” Volunteer Ascension programming helps to provide school uniforms and school supplies to Ascension Parish children that are in need. In addition, the organization provides a youth volunteer program, ConnecTeens, that offers volunteer opportunities throughout the summer break. Two of the first two schools to host Fall Kids Helping Kids Fundraisers were Central Primary and Lake Elementary schools, she said. At Central Primary, Assistant Principal Cynthia Jackson coordinated a Saints Jersey/Hat day for their event. And at Lake Elementary, the cheerleaders sponsored their KHK event.
