St. Elizabeth Hospital offering free screening St. Elizabeth Hospital offering free screening Advocate staff report Sept. 07, 2013 Comments St. Elizabeth Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center are hosting a free prostate screening for Ascension Parish residents. The screening will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the St. Elizabeth Community Clinic, 1024 S.E, Ascension Complex, in Gonzales. The event is being held during National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a joint release from the two agencies said. Prostate screenings are for men age 50 and older who do not have a doctor or have not been screened in the past 12 months. Those at higher risk, such as African-American men and men with a family history of prostate cancer, should consider being screened beginning at age 45, the release said.
