Advocate story Aug. 28, 2013 Comments Hundreds of children and their families crowded the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center’s gym Saturday for the St. Elizabeth Kids Fest. The event, sponsored by St. Elizabeth Physicians, featured health and wellness activities for children and their families. Doctors talked about the importance of flu shots, health screenings and other health issues during a pediatrician town hall forum, and children played outdoors on several inflatables. Local fire departments, the Ascension Parish Library, Ascension Counseling Center and several health-related agencies and business also hosted information booths. InfiniEDGE Software provided more than 300 bicycle helmets to children ages 3 to 16. Assisting with the project was certified child safety expert Karen Ahmad, a registered nurse and child passenger safety technician with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. The Alliance Safety Council was a sponsoring partner in the helmet distribution.
