Sorrento teen Taylor Alberes finished as the first runner-up and won scholarship money in the Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen Pageant held May 29 through June 1 in Monroe, a release from the pageant says.
Twenty-seven contestants took part in the statewide pageant.
The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization is a little sister program of the Miss America Organization. The Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is conducted under the franchise of the Miss Louisiana Organization, which is affiliated with Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, the release says.
Alberes holds the title of Miss Greater Baton Rouge Outstanding Teen 2013.
Judging was based on interview, fitness, talent, evening gown and on-stage question. The pageant winner, Baylea Huffman, of Delhi, represents Louisiana in the Miss America outstanding Teen hosted in Orlando, Fla.
The MLOT organization also includes the Fleur De Lis Princess program which allows the teens to mentor young girls from the ages of 5-10. Alberes mentored London Luquette.
