May 16, 2013 08:57 Dutchtown High names valedictorian Dutchtown High names valedictorian Yeheun Jun Advocate staff report May 16, 2013 Comments Dutchtown High School will hold commencement ceremonies at 7 p.m. Thursday in Griffin Field. Yennie Jun, the daughter of Bokkyoo Jun and Namhyung Lee, of Geismar, is the class valedictorian. Jun maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 4.7. She participated in several extracurricular activities including the Dutchtown Sound Band, Interact, National Honor Society, Student Council, Beta, quiz bowl, cross-country, track and was a member of the Dutchtown High’s homecoming court. Jun received various awards such as first place in world history at District Rally, All State Honor Band, District Honor Band, Gallant Griffin, Student of the Year Nominee, Eatel Corp. Top Scholar and was a National Merit Finalist. She plans to study history, international relations and music at Tufts University in Meadford, Mass. Ashley Alexander, the daughter of David and Dacia Alexander, of Prairieville, will serve as salutatorian with a 4.6885 GPA. Alexander was a member of Beta Club and Ambassador Club. She was the president of Dutchtown’s National Honor Society and played soccer and competed in cross-country. She also represented her class on the prom court and was homecoming queen. Her college plans include studying international studies and business at LSU.
