Advocate staff report May 16, 2013 Comments The Gonzales Committee on Cultural Affairs is finalizing plans to welcome a delegation from Meylan, France, Oct. 10-17. Committee President Karen Hatcher said the group is part of a twin cities program that travels to Meylan every other year and hosts the French visitors in between trips. Members of the French delegation will stay in area homes while visiting the area. The group plans a dance in Jambalaya Park, trip to a Lafayette festival, day on the river with the Gonzales Boat club, tour of a sugar mill and plantation home and tailgate party of the LSU vs. Florida football game. The group meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gonzales Public Safety Center on Orice Roth Road to discuss the visit. For information on being a host family, call Hatcher at (225) 644-6681.
