Program will dispose of unused medicines Program will dispose of unused medicines Advocate staff report May 09, 2013 Comments Ascension residents can dispose of their unused or expired medications at three Ascension parish pharmacies thanks to a program launched by a St. Amant pharmacist. “In a response to news about the presence of pharmaceuticals contaminating the water supply and teenage abuse of prescription drugs, St. Amant Pharmacy, Galvez Pharmacy and La Pharmacie are now offering a new drug take-back program to help its patients safely dispose of medications that may be dangerous to other and to the environment,” pharmacist Norris Tureau said. Tureau said the prescription drug disposal program was launched in April by the National Community Pharmacists Association, of which he is a member. The pharmacies will work to dispose of the drugs using the Sharps TakeAway Environmental Return System, he said. For more information, call Tureau at (225) 644-7288 or email email@example.com.
