22 St. Amant education group members honored

Twenty-two members of the St. Amant High School Distributive Education Clubs of America chapter were honored May 1 during a banquet highlighting the members’ achievements.

DECA is a marketing, hospitality, finance and business chapter dedicated to helping students around the world become better prepared for the business world, chapter adviser Rae Broussard said.

Broussard, one of the business teachers at the high school, said she has pushed her DECA members “to become the best future business men and women they can be.”

Broussard accompanied eight DECA members to DECA’s International Career Development Conference April 24 to April 28 in Anaheim, Calif.

At the conference, Clayton Villemarette, St. Amant High School DECA’s vice president and Louisiana DECA’s state president attended the DECA Leads workshop and Raylie Bourgeois and Amber Bartell attended the Thrive Academy.

Nichole Joyeux took part in the Principles of Business Management competition and LeeAmber Perry competed in the Principles of Hospitality and Tourism event.

Julie Breaux, Michael Minvielle and Chez Babin competed in a written event for the Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan.

“Although no one placed nationally, the children agree that it was a great experience and they learned many things,” a news release from Broussard said.

While in Anaheim, the students visited Universal Hollywood Studios, Disneyland and California Adventure and toured Los Angeles.
