Girl Scouts council recognizes volunteers

Girl Scouts Louisiana East acknowledged the exemplary efforts of its volunteers and honored outstanding members at the council’s annual meeting and adult recognitions event held at Parc 73 in Prairieville earlier this month.

Ascension Parish Girl Scout volunteers Aline Jacobs, Bobby Mayo, Willis Potts and Tracy Yoes were among the adult volunteers and community leaders honored, a news release from the Girl Scouts says.

Willis Potts, of Prairieville, and Tracy Yoes, of Gonzales, received the Volunteer of Excellence award, which recognized those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of the Journeys series and The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members, the release says.

Potts was acknowledged for his 11 years of volunteerism.

Yoes, a troop leader who also serves as the Prairieville Service Unit 131 secretary, was recognized for energy and unflagging support at Service Unit events, the release says.

“Her ever upbeat attitude, her organization skills and unending devotion are a true asset to the service unit and the council,” the nomination states.

Years of Service Pins were given to Prairieville volunteers Mayo, 20 years, and to Jacobs, 25 years.
