Motorist killed on I-10 early Sunday Motorist killed on I-10 early Sunday Advocate staff report April 22, 2013 Comments A speeding motorist was killed on Interstate 10 early Sunday when he lost control of his car, veered off the road and crashed into a tree, State Police said. Sidrian R. Melancon, 24, Port Sulphur, died in the wreck just past midnight Sunday on I-10 west near La. 22 in Ascension Parish, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said Sunday in a news release. Melancon’s 2003 Toyota Corolla ran off the interstate to the left, the release says, when he overcorrected and went off the road to the right and into the tree. Melancon, who was not wearing a seat belt, died in the crash. Troopers submitted a toxicology sample from Melancon to see if impairment was a factor, Sandifer said.
