Volunteers sought for Great American Cleanup Volunteers sought for Great American Cleanup River Parishes bureau April 24, 2013 Comments Community advocates in Assumption Parish are calling on volunteers to help clean up litter and debris in the parish. Keep Assumption Beautiful will conduct a Great American Cleanup event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, one of approximately 1,200 Keep America Beautiful events taking place around the country this spring. Volunteers will concentrate on three different sites in the parish: the La. 70 Spur in Plattenville; the La. 70 bridge in Paincourtville; and Brule Road in Labadieville. Workers picking up trash and debris along the La. 70 Spur will meet at the Payless shopping center, 260 La. 70 Spur, Plattenville. Volunteers for the second site will meet at Sagona’s True Value Hardware, 6188 La. 1, Paincourtville. Brule Road volunteers will meet at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 118 Convent St., Labadieville. Volunteers are urged to wear long pants and bring gloves. A responsible adult must accompany all volunteers under 16 years of age.
