St. Amant FFA joins Fight Hunger program St. Amant FFA joins Fight Hunger program Advocate staff report April 22, 2013 Comments The National Future Farmers of America organization selected the St. Amant FFA chapter to participate in the Invest 2 Fight Hunger Pilot Program. Only 30 chapters were invited to take part in the nationwide program. St. Amant FFA Chapter is in the process of hosting educational workshops on hunger and its related issues, FFA sponsor Mandy DeLaune said in a news release. The St. Amant I2FH committee has presented workshops to the St. Amant FFA chapter, the St. Amant High School faculty and staff and local FFA chapters at the Area IV Spring Career Development Events Contest held recently. Throughout April, the St. Amant FFA will conduct a schoolwide food drive, volunteer at the Baton Rouge Food Bank, and conduct workshops with fifth-grade students at Lake Elementary School, she said. The National FFA Organization is committed to helping combat hunger by providing its chapters and members with resources and opportunities to engage in this important cause, DeLaune said. The Invest 2 Fight Hunger pilot program will provide opportunities for students to put their FFA leadership skills into action by educating their community, she said. In addition, the chapter will partner with its local ADM grain elevator and Feeding America Food Bank to help provide relief for needy area residents, she said The Invest 2 Fight Hunger Pilot Program is sponsored by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
