Ascension Constable James E. LeBlanc has appointed St. Amant resident Joel Louque as his new deputy constable in the third justice court division.

“Joel has a wealth of operational policing experience and I am very pleased indeed that he will be joining our team,” LeBlanc said. “I would like to offer my congratulations to Mr. Louque and look forward to continuing to work closely with him to continue to make Ascension Parish a safer place to raise our children.”

The duties of constables, who are elected in districts, LeBlanc said, “is to uphold the law fairly and firmly; to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law; to keep the peace; to protect, help and reassure the community; and to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense and sound judgment.”
