Aviation camp schedules registration Aviation camp schedules registration Advocate staff report April 22, 2013 Comments Registration is underway for the Aviation Career Education Camp set for June 3 to June 7 at Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales. Teens ages 15 to 18 or students who will be enrolled in high school in the fall can get an up-close and personal look at the aviation industry during the camp, a news release says. Staffed by an elite group of college students pursuing a career in aviation, the camp is “an exciting way to explore the diversity within the industry, from commercial pilot to airport design and management,” a news release from the program says. Campers will receive hands-on training for pilot preflight duties by performing preflight inspections on airplanes, making cross-country flight plans and experimenting with the principles of flight and the mechanics of flight controls. The camp is presented by LaAviator.com, an aviation industry group whose mission is “education, celebration and preservation of aviation across the state of Louisiana,” the release says. The program is supported by the Louisiana Airport Managers Association, the Aviation Division of the state Department of Transportation and Development and the FAA’s Baton Rouge Flight Standards District Office. ACE Camp is part of a statewide effort to help young people explore aviation, the release says. The ACE Camp will be repeated as many as five times across the state throughout the summer. The registration fee is $200. To sign up, or for more information, contact Janet Gonzales at (225) 717-2077 or email@example.com, or visit http://www.LaAviator.com and click on the ACE Camp link in the top right corner of the page.
