The 2012-13 St. Amant Middle School dance team performed at football and basketball games and took part in regional and state competitions, a news release from the team says. The team competed at Southeastern Louisiana University, winning first place in the regional competition in the middle school hip-hop division and taking home a third-place trophy in middle school jazz. The next stop was Lafayette for the American All Star Louisiana State Competition in January. The team walked away with fourth place in the small ensemble division for the routine called “Royal T” with dancers Piper Borders, Kenli Conyers, Sydney Wright and Demi Guedry. Officers Piper Bordes, Taylor Cann, Maggie Duplechein, Kenli Conyers and Britney Schexnayder danced to “Crave You” in the officer rountine division. Maggie Duplechein and Britney Schexnayder placed fourth in the middle school duet division. The team’s jazz routine won first place and its hip-hop number finished in third place. The dancers also won third for their pom routine and took home the Technique Award for their technique in the jazz routine. After a very successful competition season, the team was invited to perform at a New Orleans Hornets game in February. In March, the 2013-14 team was named. The team is sponsored by Jodey Bruno, Kelli Hopper, Kirstie Carter and Nicole Cuti-Williams. Glen Meynardie is the team choreographer.
