Advocate staff report March 13, 2013 Comments A Baton Rouge garden center expert talked about preparing for a spring garden during a Feb. 14 meeting of the Pelican Point-Greens Garden Club. Twenty-one members attended the meeting. Butch Drews, of Naylor’s Garden Center in Baton Rouge, discussed proper pruning tools and techniques, fertilizers, pre- and post-emergent weed killers and cat repellent products. Club Vice President Sandy Cusick presented Drews an appreciation gift. Winners of the club’s Yard of the Month contest were announced. O’Neil and Gail Lonibos, Carol and Dennis Gniadels and Steve and Patty Patterson won awards in different categories. President Weezie Cashat reviewed changes to the club’s bylaws, which were adopted. Hostesses for the meeting were Sissy Bourgeois, Barbara Leo and Millie Matherne.
