Gonzales man booked in meth lab case

GONZALES — A Gonzales man accused of operating a methamphetamine lab in his home was booked Tuesday.

Scott Bateman, 36, 13215 George Rouyea Road, was booked with operating a clandestine lab, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Louisiana State Probation and Parole agents went to Bateman’s home on Tuesday on a routine visit because he had been placed on probation for possession of methamphetamine and simple burglary convictions.

During the visit, agents found what appeared to be a methamphetamine lab and drug paraphernalia. Agents then contacted Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives.

The detectives confirmed that Bateman did have a methamphetamine lab in his residence. Deputies removed the methamphetamine lab from the home and disposed of the materials.

Again, you have totally missed the point. You're right, the white community can no more control its meth addicts than the black community can its crack addicts. What I am talking about is the vastly different attitudes and actions of the two groups when taken as a whole (Of course there will be exceptions on both sides) If you HONESTLY take a look at the fundamental value system of most (NOT ALL) whites compared with most (NOT ALL) blacks, you will discover the direct cause of our current crime situation. How can that situation possibly be remedied if not from within the black community? We've proven that the government can't do it. I will be taking your suggestion, as much as it pains me, and leaving Baton Rouge. This is my hometown, and I love it, but who wants to raise a family in an ever sprawling ghetto?

Just when will the white community stand up and so something about all the meth cooking?? You know...since all white people belong to one community since we're of the same race and all, right? I mean...I'm white and I don't know this guy, but since I am white, I guess it's up to me to stop him and his cousins from cooking meth, right? See how dumb it is? Also, if our city is "ruined" then hit the road and leave Baton Rouge affairs to those who haven't totally written the city off.

Every race will produce criminals, but when the numbers are skewed so heavily in one direction something is obviously broken in that community.

I just honestly don't get it. I could never imagine sticking a needle in my arm for heroin. I do not see how anyone could, after seeing true side effects of it in the end. Meth? Why? Why can't people be happy with just alcohol, I know I am. :)

tradewinns, you seriously think there's no access to drugs in prison? It may not be meth, but he'll find something that someone will supply that will keep him high: acid, pills, weed, there all there for a price.
