A Prairieville resident has been reappointed to a state board and another local was appointed to a commission that oversees emergency response efforts, a news release from Gov. Bobby Jindal says.
J.E. Brignac, of Prairieville, was reappointed to the Louisiana Board of Commissioners of the Stadium and Exposition District.
Brignac is part owner and director of Acadiana Cable Advertising and KDCG Television. He is also the past part owner of Dupre Carrier Godchaux Agency Inc., Century 21-DCG Realty Inc. and National Security Underwriters Inc. From 1972 to 1980, Brignac served as a self-employed independent insurance agent and established Brignac Insurance Underwriters, which he later joined with Opelousas Underwriters Inc. Brignac also served as an agent with Martin-LeBrenton Insurance Agency from 1963 to 1972. Brignac will be reappointed to serve as a gubernatorial appointee, as required by statute.
The LSED has ownership of and jurisdictional authority over the John A. Alario Center, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the New Orleans Arena, the Saints Training Facility, TPC Louisiana and Zephyr Stadium. The LSED provides oversight concerning these facilities through a seven-member board appointed by the governor.
Robert Bruno and Ron Forman, of New Orleans; Julio Melara, of Baton Rouge, and Bill Windham, of Bossier City, were also reappointed to the LSED.
The Governor’s Office also announced that Capt. Taylor Moss, of Prairieville, was appointed to the Louisiana Emergency Response Commission.
The Louisiana Emergency Response Commission establishes emergency planning districts, appoints local emergency planning committees, supervises and coordinates the activities of local emergency planning committees and provides the Environmental Protection Agency with information concerning notification received on certain releases of hazardous materials and substances, the release says. The commission also designates facilities subject to hazardous material reporting procedures, recommends a standardized inventory form for gathering required information and develop reporting procedures, recommends additional substances that should be defined as hazardous materials, act as the central advisory body for coordinating state and federal Right-to-Know activities with regard to hazardous substances, establishes procedures for recalling and processing public requests for information, and reviews local planning committee emergency response plans.
Moss serves as the commander of the emergency services unit, which incorporates Right to Know, Hazardous Materials, and the Explosive Control Unit in the State Police.
Brent Robbins, of Baton Rouge, was also appointed to the commission.
