Advocate staff report Feb. 25, 2013 Comments Empty medicine bottles, plastic crawfish, a pot, baby dolls and lots of beads were used to decorate miniature floats parading Monday in the Ascension Council on Aging’s annual Mardi Gras celebration. Doris Walker and Ronald Rodrigue reigned as queen and king over the celebration held at the Gonzales Senior Center. Joyce Cassard won in the most original category with her entry that featured dolls representing “the future generation of the COA.” Bertha McBride’s entry won first place in the prettiest category and Rosa Braud’s float won the funniest title. A large yellow duck atop a wagon won Walker first place in the most creative division, and Marion Crawford’s entry was named best theme. Magician Craig Boudreaux entertained the crowd.
