Donaldsonville parade on Saturday

The Donaldsonville Christmas Parade will roll down Railroad Avenue starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Parade organizer Darryl Hambrick said that after the parade, the Street Legal Riders Motor Bike Club will host “A Christmas to Remember” in Louisiana Square. Santa will be on hand for photographs and toys will be distributed.

Vitter staff to be at Gonzales city hall

U.S. Sen. David Vitter’s staff will conduct satellite office hours Thursday at the Gonzales city hall.

Staff will be on hand to discuss problems residents are having with a federal government agency, a news release from Vitter said.

Residents can stop by from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at 120 S. Irma. Blvd., Gonzales.

Ascension offices set holiday hours

All Ascension Parish government offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday in observance of the Christmas holidays, parish officials said.

All offices will reopen Wednesday.

Offices will again close Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. All offices will reopen on Jan. 2.

Toys to be given out at American Legion

Toys will be distributed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Howard-Johnson American Legion Post hall in Gonzales, event organizer Gwen Hilliard said.

Hilliard and the Respectable Gentlemen Club are joining forces to hand out the free toys.

St. Amant High classes to reunite

The St. Amant High School classes of 1982 and 1983 are holding a reunion Dec. 29 at the Clarion Inn in Gonzales.

The party starts with a social at 6 p.m., followed by the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. Music will be by United We Jam and the food will be catered by Mike Anderson’s Restaurant.

Cost is $50 per person.

Group fundraiser to help ill girl, 15

Two Keys Self Defense is hosting a fundraiser Saturday at the Flea Market of Louisiana in Prairieville to help with the medical expenses of a 15-year-old girl receiving medical care for recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, event organizers said.

Michael Davila, of Two Keys Self Defense, said “Team Davila,” which is made up a students from different martial arts schools, will demonstrate karate and self-defense techniques to raise money for Cassie England.

Members of Alpha Bast Garrison, a Star Wars fan club, will be on hand to take photographs, and several items will be raffled off.

Davila will attempt to break six stacks of flaming boards, he said.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the flea market, 15545 U.S. 61, Prairieville.
