Annual E.A. fishing rodeo starts Saturday

The 52nd annual East Ascension Sportsman’s League Kid’s Fishing Rodeo kicks off at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Twin Lakes Park on La. 74 in Geismar.

Children ages 2 to 14 are invited to take part in an Ascension Parish family tradition that includes prizes for everything from smallest to biggest fish. Prizes include trophies, toys and four bicycles.

The fishing ends at 9 a.m., and parents must accompany their children throughout the event.

Children must bring their own rod and reel or cane pole, and all bait used must be live. No artificial lures are allowed.

Fishermen must also bring a bucket for the fish.

All fish caught must be kept and brought to the weigh-in station.
