Boy accused of stealing 2 guns in Belle Rose
BELLE ROSE — A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing two handguns from an unlocked vehicle, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called to a Creole Street residence around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in regard to a complaint that two pistols were taken from an unlocked vehicle, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Several witnesses told detectives a young male had been seen in the area. Detectives tracked the juvenile down at another residence on Creole Street.
After questioning the 13-year-old, detectives uncovered the two weapons and other stolen items, the news release said. The boy was booked into the St. James Youth Detention Center on a count of simple burglary.
