Floral exhibit winners awarded

The Gonzales Garden Club met in May to announce the winners of a recent floral design and horticulture exhibit and state convention.

During the meeting, Ascension Parish Library representative Anita Young awarded Janis Poche, club president, first place in the Floral Design and Horticulture Exhibit held at the Gonzales branch of the library in April. Conchita Rickey won second place and Ellen Richmond was awarded third place.

Garden Club District VI Director Diane Dufour announced awards the club earned from the state-level organization.

The Gonzales Garden Club won first place in the Garden Club Achievement contest and first place in its district.

The club also announced the winners of its Yard of the Month contest. Randy and Bonnie Simpson, of Jordan’s Crossing, subdivision won the residential yard of the month award and Big River Shell in Gonzales received the award for the commercial yard of the month.
