Eatel helps systems honor students, teachers
Eatel Corp. recently partnered with the Ascension and Livingston Parish school systems to host the 2012 Top Scholars Banquet.
The sixth annual event honored the academic success of 12 high school students, as well as the teachers who have been most influential in their lives, according to a news release from Eatel Corp.
In addition, Eatel presented each student with a $200 gift certificate to use toward future academic supplies.
Top Scholars from Ascension Parish and their chosen teachers were:
• Stefanie Rodrigue, Donaldsonville High School, and coach Benny Guilbeaux, a former Donaldsonville High School teacher now at Plaquemine High;
• Devonta Guidry, Dutchtown High School, and Dora Lunkin, Donaldsonville Primary School teacher;
• Jori Medernach, East Ascension High School, and Jamie Andrews, East Ascension High teacher;
• Chauncey Stephens, East Ascension High School, and Andrews;
• Allen Hernandez, St. Amant High School, and Dawn Gasper, St. Amant High School teacher;
• Morgan Westbrook, St. Amant High School, and Kellie Gonzales, former St. Amant High School teacher now at Donaldsonville High School;
• Emily Harvey, Dutchtown High School, and Jennifer Sciortino, Dutchtown High School teacher;
• Sierra Sossamon, Dutchtown High School, and Bobbie Keller, Dutchtown High School teacher.
“Eatel joins these students’ parents, educators, and mentors in expressing how proud of them we are,” Ashley Phillips, Eatel chief operating officer, said. “As ‘Eatel Top Scholars, they have shown that they not only excel academically, but also philanthropically. These students are not just our future; they are going to change our world.”

Czarina Walker, chief executive officers of InfiniEdge Software Inc. and nStrumental Designs, Inc., was the guest speaker with her presentation titled, “The Empowered Journey: From Spectacular Teen to Amazing Young Adult.”
Jenny Heroman, Eatel community connection anchor, hosted the event; and Patrice Pujol, Ascension Parish School System superintendent, Tommy Cothern, Livingston Parish School System assistant superintendent, and Phillips also spoke.
