LSU Agricultural Center’s annual State 4-H and FFA Livestock Show continues through Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
Students from around the state will be showing cattle and hogs in the final days of the weeklong event.
The exhibitions start at 8 a.m. each day. Admission is free.
Extreme rodeo
Youth cowboys and cowgirls will join adult riders and ropers for the Extreme Ranch Rodeo on Friday and Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. shows are $8; children 5 and under will be admitted free.
Clothing drive Saturday
St. Landry United Methodist Church is collecting used clothing for its March 3 clothing giveaway.
Church volunteers will collect clothing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church, 3209 South St. Landry Ave., Gonzales.
Residents can pick up clothing and eat a free lunch starting at 10 a.m. on March 3 at the church, program spokesman Terry Rixner said. For information, call (225) 289-8936.
Slim Harpo presentation
Blues legend Slim Harpo will be the subject of a 6:30 p.m. program on Thursday at the Ascension Parish Library’s Dutchtown branch.
Johnny Palazzotto, executive director and cofounder of the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, will talk about Harpo’s music career. Palazzotto, a member of the Board of Governors’ Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, is producing a documentary DVD on Harpo’s life.

ACT plans ‘Forever Plaid’
Tickets are on sale for Ascension Community Theatre’s upcoming production of the musical comedy “Forever Plaid.”
Veteran performer Richard Williams is cast as Frankie, the Plaid’s leader and second tenor, according to a news release from ACT.
Chris Pyfrom will perform the role of Jinx, the group’s insecure first tenor. Mitchel Courville will play the part of Sparky, the mischievous baritone; and Chase Duhe will perform the role of Smudge, the group’s wrong-footed bass.
The show will run March 1-4 and March 8-11 with evening performances at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

St. Amant reunion set
The St. Amant High School class of 1987 is holding a reunion on Aug. 18 at the Grande Pavilion in Gonzales.
The cost of the event is $40.

Registration is under way for the East Ascension High School Class of 1987 reunion.
The reunion will be held on April 21 at the Grande Pavilion in Gonzales.
