The Gonzales Dixie Boys Baseball Registration: 9 a.m. to noon, Gonzales City Hall. For boys and girls ages 13 and 14. Also to be held on Feb. 25 and March 3. The Life of Blues Legend Slim Harpo: 6:30 p.m., Ascension Parish Library, Dutchtown branch. Presentation on blues legend Slim Harpo, who was born in Lobdell in January 1924 and died in Baton Rouge in January 1970. Despite never working as a full-time musician, he managed to put two hits on the Billboard charts. Johnny Palazzotto will be at the Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown to help pay homage to the life and music of the local performer. Palazzotto, executive director and co-founder of the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, as well as a member of the Board of Governors’ Memphis Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, is producing a documentary DVD on Harpo’s life.
