Gonzales school to use donation for technology
Students, faculty, school administration, Ascension School Board members and central office staff gathered recently for an assembly at G.W. Carver Primary School in Gonzales to receive a $25,000 donation from PCS Nitrogen’s Geismar facility, according to a news release from the school.
PCS Nitrogen representatives Brian Andries, Geismar’s general manager; and Mike Hebert, human resources manager; presented the donation, which will be used for the school’s technology project, the release states.
“The project “has been in the hearts and dreams of the school’s administration and faculty for some time,”” Latatia Johnston, principal at G.W. Carver School, said.
She said the money will be used to purchase iPads and iPods for use by the students.
“Our students will now be able to access math, science and numerous other learning areas and at the same time be introduced to this new information technology,” she said.
Andries said “advancing education is one of the company’s priorities.
“Our commitment to G.W. Carver as an Adopt-a-School partner is another example of our desire to see young minds embrace learning and achieve academic excellence,” he said. “PCS Nitrogen and its employees continually strive to make real the goals and values of our company while constantly seeking to improve the quality of life in the areas where we work and live.”
