Artists invited to enter Youth March into Art

The River Region Art Association is looking for young artists to compete in its Youth March into Art show.

Artists through age 17 can submit their entries from noon to 4 p.m. March 1-3 at the RRAA Gumbo Art Center, 1835 N. Magnolia Ave., Gonzales.

Students may compete in three categories: painting, drawing and three-dimensional art, RRAA spokeswoman Donna Braud said.

The entry fee is $1 per piece with a limit of three entries per category.

A Louisiana Art Spirit Award will be presented to the school with the most entries, Braud said.

Last year, Braud said, the St. James Parish Gifted School won the Art Spirit award.

Entry forms are online at http://www.artgumbo.org.

Call (225) 328-7354 for entry information.

Art from the show will be on display during a free Youth Creativity Day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on March 24 at the center.

The event will feature several art activity areas set up for the young people to create art to take home, Braud said. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided.

The March into Art exhibit will be on display.

The March into Art awards will be presented at 3 p.m. following Youth Creativity Day at 3 p.m.
