Jared Sandifer, spokesman for State Police Troop A, said the driver, Michael Villavaso, 25, of St. James, overturned the 18-wheeler about 11:30 a.m. south of Ashland Road. Once removed from the cab, Villavaso was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge with minor injuries. Sandifer said several tow trucks were needed to remove the dump truck. River Road fully reopened about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sandifer said. The area is near the parish’s industrial corridor, and Ashland and River roads are busy routes for plant and worker traffic.
