Kavente Jenkins, 17, and a 13-year-old juvenile were booked on counts of simple arson on Thursday, Lafayette Fire Department investigator Alton Trahan said. Trahan said investigators do not believed the boys are linked to eight other arson fires set in June, one of them also on Dolese Street. The investigation continues and more arrests are expected, Trahan said. Firefighters were called at 6:34 a.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of Dolese Street, where heavy smoke was billowing from on of the bedrooms of the vacant home. No one was injured in the Tuesday fire or in the eight others in June.
