North Wilderness resident Harold Taylor told the City Council last week that water quality in the subdivision is poor. “We all have private water wells, and that water is terrible,” he said. Taylor told The Daily World he asked Port Barre officials about connecting to its water system, but the system already serves much of the surrounding area and is overburdened. Krotz Springs Mayor Carroll Snyder says engineers must ensure the city can handle the addition of about 120 customers from North Wilderness but expressed a desire to help. “We’d like to help and see y’all on our water, but we need to see if we can even handle it first,” he said. The council voted to ask engineers to go ahead with an assessment to determine possible impact of connecting North Wilderness to the city system.
