Discussions with the filmmakers will follow the screenings, which will be at Vermilionville’s Performance Center. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, and free for children 6 and under. The screenings will run from September through November, beginning with Joe York’s “Pride & Joy: A Southern Foodways Alliance Film” at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Scott waste collection Scott will collect household hazardous waste from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at the city’s maintenance building at 118 Lion Club St. The list of waste to be accepted includes household chemicals, appliances and electronics. The service is free but available only to Scott residents. Proof of residency is required, either a driver’s license or utility bill. Dental care for musicians A special dental clinic for musicians and other music professionals is scheduled Wednesday at St. Bernadette’s Community Clinic on St. John Street in Lafayette. Services to be offered include dental exams, cleaning, fillings and extractions. The clinic is supported by the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, MusicCares and the Smile Program in an effort to bring affordable health care to cultural workers. St. Landry tax meetings Public meetings are scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss a proposed rural sales tax for road work in the unincorporated area of the parish. The Tuesday meeting is to be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Plaisance Elementary School. Vitter town hall meetings Sen. David Vitter, R-La., will host two meetings Wednesday in the Acadiana area to hear from constituents. State St., Jennings. Hunter education class The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office will offer hunter education classes in September and October to help hunters meet the state gun safety training requirements for anyone born on or after Sept. 1, 1969.
