Free dental care available for musicians

Free dental care is available to music professionals during “Dental Day” scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at St. Bernadette’s Community Clinic, 409 St. John St.

The services are provided by the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation in partnership with MusiCares, a service division of the Recording Academy, and the Smile Program.

Advance registration is required and no walk-ins will be accepted.

Space is limited.

Dental Day services include dental exams, X-rays, fillings, extractions and teeth cleanings to all music professionals, including musicians, sound engineers, roadies, music producers, and music agents who are working in Louisiana.

GED registration set in September, October

Enrollment dates for South Louisiana Community College’s Adult Education program are Sept. 3 and Oct. 28 for the Gulf Area campus in Abbeville and Sept. 5 and Oct. 30 at the Acadian campus in Crowley.

The GED test changes in 2014 so potential students who previously passed parts of the test will no longer be able to use those scores when the changes take effect.

Those interested in enrolling in the Adult Education program should bring a valid ID and a Social Security card at 7:45 a.m. on the enrollment date.
